Accesibility to the foods is increased during the quarantine since we are home at all time and stocked lots of food that would easily result change in the eating pattern. Additionally, there would be increasement in weight since the behavior of eating is increased when we do not know how to spend time at home and we are lack of proper body acitivity.
Tips fort he weight control during the quarantine could be listed as:
- A daily routine for quarantine would help you to maintain healthy eating pattern. For example, in school or at work, there are predetermined times for eating which would help you to maintain the healthy pattern. Yet, at home eating pattern could easily change. Fixing the sleeping pattern, predetermining the things to do in a day would also help you to determine the time that you would eat. When the behavior of eating is fixed within a proper time, controlling the weight would be easier .
- Rumination that is flowing of dysfunctional thoughts would increase when our bodies are inactive and we are at home. The easiest yet the dystfunctional way to control rumination would be emotional eating. (You may find detailed information in the article of Emotional Eating as well). Especially when the accesibility to the foods are increased the most practical way would be eating. In order to control the emotional eating pattern you may ask those questions yourself: “Do I really need this food right now? For what purpose will I eat this? Does my body really need this?” You may have an insight and awareness for your eating pattern by answering those questions and the awareness could help you to change the eating pattern easier.
- You may have a Food Journal in which you may write how often and what you eat in a day. This journal would help you understand the excessive and frequent consumption or the inadequate consumption and/or huge gaps between the foods.
- You may exercise within the home which would also help you control your weight as well.
In cases that you would not be able to control your weight, it would be okay to consult a dietitian and a psychologist.
